2010 Subaru Legacy GT

2011 Subaru Legacy GT
-
2012 Subaru Legacy GT
Important Fitment Note: This engine is unique to the 2010–2012 Legacy GT chassis where the turbocharger is mounted below the front of the engine. It is not a direct fit for the 2005–2009 Legacy GT or the 2008–2014 WRX without significant modification.
Installation & Technical Notes
The 5th Gen Legacy GT engine setup is highly specific. To ensure a successful installation and maintain your warranty, please follow these technical guidelines:
-
Long Block Conversion: This sale includes the engine block, cylinder heads, and internal components. You must transfer your original USDM intake manifold, low-mount turbocharger assembly, oil pan, and engine wiring harness to ensure 100% compatibility with your vehicle's ECU.
-
Oil System Priming: Before the first startup, the engine must be primed with oil. Disable the ignition/fuel system and crank the engine in 10-second intervals until the oil pressure light disappears to protect the turbocharger bearings.
-
AVCS Solenoids: We recommend cleaning or replacing the AVCS oil feed filters (located in the banjo bolts) to ensure proper cam timing and prevent "check engine" codes for camshaft position.
-
Essential Maintenance: We strongly recommend replacing the following parts during the swap:
-
Timing Belt Kit: Replace the belt, water pump, and all idler pulleys (Interference Engine).
-
Spark Plugs: NGK Laser Platinum or Iridium (SILFR6A).
-
Rear Main Seal: High-quality OEM Subaru seal to prevent future leaks.
-
Engine Oil: 5W-30 or 5W-40 Full Synthetic oil.
-
Coolant: Subaru Super Blue Long Life Coolant.
-
-
ECU Reset: After installation, use a professional scan tool to clear "Learned Values" so the ECU can calibrate to the new engine’s compression and flow characteristics.
