Installation & Technical Notes

The Evo 5 4G63 is a high-performance forced induction engine. To ensure longevity and peak boost response, please follow these guidelines:

• Wiring & ECU: This package includes the JDM wiring harness. If swapping into a USDM Mirage, minor pinned-out adjustments may be required for dash cluster and fuel pump integration.

• Timing Component Refresh: Since this is an interference engine, we strictly recommend replacing the timing belt, balancer belt, and all tensioners/idlers before installation.

• Fluids & Lubrication: Use a high-zinc 10W-40 or 15W-50 synthetic oil. The 5-speed transmission requires high-quality GL-4 gear oil (75W-90) to protect the synchronizers.

• Transfer Case & AWD: Please note that the transmission is designed for an AWD setup. If you are performing a FWD conversion, you will need to utilize a 4G63 FWD-specific transmission.

• Essential Maintenance: We recommend replacing:

  • Spark Plugs: NGK BPR7ES (gapped to .028").

  • Water Pump: Replace while performing the timing belt service.
