Installation & Technical Notes

The 8AR-FTS is a highly sophisticated engine. To ensure a successful installation and maintain your warranty, please follow these technical guidelines:

  • Long Block Conversion: This sale includes the engine block, cylinder head, and internal components. You must transfer your original USDM turbocharger assembly, intake manifold, exhaust manifold, and wiring harness to ensure compatibility with your vehicle's ECU and vacuum system.

  • Fuel System: Retain your original high-pressure fuel pump and injectors from your USDM engine to ensure the fuel maps remain calibrated correctly.

  • Turbo Cooling: Ensure all coolant and oil feed lines to the turbocharger are flushed and free of debris before connecting them to this engine.

  • Essential Maintenance: We strongly recommend replacing the following parts during the swap:

    • Spark Plugs: Use only OEM Lexus/Denso high-heat range turbo plugs.

    • Engine Oil: 0W-20 Synthetic oil only.

    • Coolant: Genuine Toyota/Lexus Pink Super Long Life Coolant.

  • ECU Reset: After installation, a professional scan tool should be used to clear all adaptation values and perform a "Memory Reset" so the ECU can learn the new engine's parameters.
